The berberis vulgaris, known as Ccommon responsibility, is a shrub belonging to the family of berberidaceae. Its semi-persistent leaves, appear with an elliptical shape with large and glossy surface. Has yellow flowers and produces edible berries. The plant tolerates enough prunings, does not fear cold and resists short drought periods.
Size: this small tree reaches a height of 1 - 3 meters, with more or less erect and compact bearing.
flowers/fruits: at the beginning of the spring are small flowers with six petals, gathered in bunches. In this period the plant is yellow. In July instead appear these small red berries.
use: with its thorns, it can be used to form anti-intrusion defensive hedges, or used in reforestation, in gardens, bordure, flower beds or as a single specimen.
